Prairie Architects Inc. is located in the Exchange District of Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is within Treaty No. 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinabe (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Anisininew, Dene, and Dakota, and is the Birthplace of the Métis Nation and the Heart of the Métis Nation Homeland.
The Prairie Biologics Accelerator building is a state-of-the-art research facility for the Faculty of Science at the University of Manitoba. The Research Facility will provide space for vaccine development, biomanufacturing and regional innovation in western Canada.
Mackenzie Skoczylas is an Indigenous Designer at Prairie and proud member of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. Through her design, Mackenzie aims to provide contemporary art and architecture rooted in traditional values for a variety of First Nation communities. She is committed to consultative design that both challenges accepted norms and embraces a path forward in reconciliation and celebration.
